Failure Diagnosis and Analysis of Pilot Bearing Used in Diesel Engine Crankshaft

Abstract

This paper deal with one of the causes of pilot bearing failure in crankshaft and its diagnosis and static analysis by ANSYS software, the bearing failure causes has been determined by various probable causes such as bore diameter of crank shaft, press fit tool dolly physically check, particles in bearing, checking the radial internal clearance between outer casing and bearing ball, checking crank shaft bore depth and roundness of bearing. In addition, selection of new pilot bearing is also done based on causes of failure.
