Abstract

This paper puts forth a model of an automated solar irrigation system. The power of overall system is controlled and dependent on solar power. Moisture sensors dipped in the soil keeps a track of water content in the field. If the water level goes critically low, the pump turns on automatically. When the water content reaches below the specified level, the system alerts the farmer to release water into the field. Even when the farmer stays at a greater distance from his fields, he can control the release of water to the fields in a single click through his cellphone. This system can be achieved in low cost by using a micro controller and then can be installed into the fields.
