IOT BASED VIGILANCE SYSTEM

Abstract

The world today is highly insecure for women and kids. There are many threats and crimes that victimize weaker population of a society. According to reports nearly 4 Lakh cases of crime against women were reported in 2019 in India, which included 33000 rape cases alone. According to National Crime Records Bureau's a total of 73,138 children were reported to be missing last year. These Crime rates increase every year, it is necessary to have a device for emergency contact and alert. We are aware of devices and technologies that pre-exist for emergency alert during these crimes, devices like smart phones, smart watches and smart bands. Being aware of these pre-existing technologies. The main goal of this paper is to develop efficient multi-purpose and cost effective "Vigilance system" (module). The module as one of the major applications serves as a women and child safety system. In case of women safety this gadget can be attached to a women’s attire or can be kept in her wallet and In case of kid safety it can be attached to the ID card of a school kid. This module can also be used for health emergency System in old-aged and physically challenged. The basic operation of this module for all applications is, the module consists of a Small button that has to be pressed during emergency, Once the victim presses the button a buzzer with unique sound starts buzzing and people around are alerted for help, simultaneously this software will have access to the GSM (SIM900 Modem) and Global positioning system(NEO6M) that will gather the location Information of the victim and using the GSM service a help message along with the exact location co-ordinates will be delivered to the nearby police station and the responsible family member, whose contacts will already be stored in the software. This emergency alert happens real quick, in no time that can save life of a woman and kid in danger. In case of kid safety the same module with slight changes is attached to the ID card of school kid, In this case we make use of Internet of things, we attach a camera to the same module that records a live video during the crime which is helpful for Immediate verification if the kid is actually in trouble and also for Investigation on criminals. As mentioned this module is Multi-purposed. It can also be used as Health and safety Emergency alert system in old-aged people and physically challenged with slight modifications in the circuit using health monitoring sensors such as a heart rate sensor. This is how this multi-purpose safety module can save lives in various situations, this module in comparison with other devices is quick and cost-effective.
