Abstract

In recent times large amount of power is being used for lightening of streets and highways.  The places where vehicles are moving slowly and even in places where less dense of population power is wasted during through out the night in conventionally. To solve this issue light controlling systems to be implemented and to depend on alternative source of energy. The composed work is to control the amount of power used by switching off the lights when not in use. For this we need to have two control system one to switch on the lights when required and the other to switch off the lights when not in use. For this LEDs are used in this street light arrangement.  The IR sensors and photo diodes are used for sensing the people and the vehicle movements. The controlling signals of the sensors are connected to the 8051  microcontroller. The control logic is used  in the microcontroller to implement control logic for switching on the lights when in use and to switch off the lights at the time not in use based on the vehicular movement and the pedistrains walking on roads. This method is proposed for saving the overall energy consumed by the street lights. Finally automation of lightning and controlling techniques are used for consuming energy minimisation as the no of cities and urbanization has been increased.
